Residents Associations
Several of our estates have Residents Associations or Committees. A Residents Association is a group of residents who are elected to serve the interests of the development. They hold regular meetings, most of which are just attended by committee members although some will be open to all residents.
The remit of the Residents Association is a matter for the committee to determine in consultation with all residents. It may be that it concentrates on matters relating to the development or estate only. It may also consider wiser issues in relation to Cotman Housing Association.
Normally, a Residents Association will also consider wider environmental issues affecting the development such as the availability of public transport and other local services. It may also decide that it wishes to fundraise and arrange social events for residents.
An important benfit of a Residents Association is that it provides a regular formal channel of communication between Cotman Housing staff and residents of a Cotman development. It can lead to better mutual understanding and relationships as residents and staff work together to bring about change and improvements in services and facilities.
A Residents Association can help foster community spirit and pride in the development.
Currently, there are active Residents Associations at both our Lowestoft estate and at Cotman Fields in Norwich.
If you woulf like any information about the Cotman Fields Residents Association, please contact Joyce Laird (Association Secretary) on 01603 616464.
