DISCUSSIONS REGARDING CHANGE OF COTMAN HOUSING'S STATUS
On 28 August 2008, Cotman Housing Association and Places for People - one of the UK's largest property management and development groups - announced to residents that they are in discussions on proposals that would see Cotman become part of the Places for People Group, managing a combined portfolio of over 2,100 properties mainly in Norfolk.
The environment that housing associations work in has changed significantly since Cotman was founded in 1970, and the Board of Management recognises that Cotman must move with the times if we are to continue to achieve our objective of providing an excellent and cost effective services to our current and future residents.
The Board of Management is clear that the interests of Cotman residents must come first. Residents will be given more information on the proposal, and the opportunity to ask questions and to put forward their points of view over the next few weeks.
If you are a Cotman resident and would like to ask any questions or make any comments regarding this, please e-mail: consultation@cotman-housing.org.uk.
DISABILITY EQUALITY ACTION PLAN RESIDENTS SURVEY
Cotman Housing Association is committed to ensuring that all of our activities are planned and carried out with full regard to the needs and rights of people with disabilities. We aim to create and manage homes and communities that enable people to live safe and healthy lives, maximising their independence wherever possible.
It is our duty to ensure that the homes and services we provide to disabled people meet their needs. Further to this, we aim to exceed their expectations wherever possible.
In order to achieve these aims, the Association is currently developing a Disability Equality Action Plan. A survey form has been developed to identify residents' views on how the Association currently deals with disability matters. The results of this survey will help us identify areas that require attention, helping us to develop the focus and priorities for the Action Plan.
If you would like to take part in this survey, please download the survey by clicking the link below and saving the form to your computer. Once you have completed the form, please return it to office@cotman-housing.org.uk.

NORWICH'S BEECH DRIVE OFFICIALLY OPENED
Cotman Housing Association was pleased to open seven new properties in Norwich in August.
The general needs scheme of 3 three-bedroom houses and 4 two-bedroom houses was officially opened in Beech Drive, North Norwich on Monday 18th August 2008.
The site was developed as part of the Greater Norwich Housing Development Partnerhsip, which consists of three local authorities and four housing associations. The GNHDP was set up to enable a co-ordinated approach to providing affordable housing, and the aim of the Partnership is to make the best use of availlable funding and bring forward suitable sites for development.
Situated off Mile Cross Lane, Beech Drive was developed by Iceni Homes on behalf of Cotman Housing Association. The scheme was designed by Richard Pike Associates and was built by Lovell Partnership Ltd.
“We are very pleased to open this new development at Beech Drive, which makes good use of an under-used site” said the Association’s Chief Executive, Vivien Farrow. “This new development enhances the area, is well integrated with the surrounding development in both form and design, and provides much needed affordable housing”.
